Slowly, Slowly, Slowly Said The Sloth

Have you noticed how fast-paced life has gotten? It seems like everyone is in such a hurry.  This fast pace can be quite overwhelming, especially if you are a preschool-aged child.  Preschoolers naturally move at their own pace.

At Fort Meadow ECC we are purposely slowing down the pace of our school day in order to provide children with the time, freedom and support that is needed for them to be inquisitive, ask questions, investigate and connect to learning.  This school year, teachers started by taking part in professional development focusing on the slow classroom and every classroom received a copy of Slowly, Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth by Eric Carle.

Want to join us in slowing down?  Check out this article Trying Out Slow Parenting.  On the lighter side, gather your children and check out Opa’s Corner Storytime as Opa reads The Sloth Who Came To Stay by Margaret Wild.  More information to come on this important topic!
